In my exploring I ended up coming up with a totally different sound that basically is the patch Allan Holdsworth used on his track "house
of mirrors" on his "hard hat area" release. Basically it's an Eventide H3000 patch - the one from the album has more animation to the
sound, the VG is a lot smoother due to the swankier DSPs inside.
Then I figured out "I wonder if I could add bass to the E and A strings and then play live with the bass and chords together?"
See:

I did. I got out a drum loop and jammed over it and was done in 5 minutes (kinda obvious chord progression IMO) and then I
added a lead track over the top. The bass and "synth" is all guitar played live. Then for the lead:
I pretty much duplicated the lead tone I get from my Mesa rack. I know you're thinking "why emulate the sound of something you already have?"
Because the VG weighs less than a laptop and my TC+Vortex+GSharp+rack case weighs at least 50 pounds. I'd be more inclined to take the VG
with me than my huge rack of processors.
Total time to create: under 10 minutes exactly.
